Introduction to Wine Tasting
After collection from your hotel we drive into the vineyards while you are given a comprehensive introduction to the wines of Burgundy from your expert guide. By the time we arrive at the first winery you will have grasped the basics and be ready for your first tasting where you will be initiated into how to taste the wine. There, the mystery of Burgundy will unfold before you.
Emerging from the underground cellar, we proceed to a second cellar for a ‘dégustation’ where you will be able to taste like the professionals. We now demystify the wine labels so that you will be able to read and understand them when you return home.
During a leisurely Burgundian lunch you will be able to put into practice everything you have learnt during the morning by selecting a wine from the extensive wine list. Afterwards, relax as you are driven through the vineyards, marvelling how the village names read just the like the wine list you studied at lunchtime. We will stop and examine the vines, discuss how they differ from your country and examine the ‘terroir’ which makes each wine so different even though they all come from the same grapes.
Our final stop of the day will be at another winery for a wine tasting which will consolidate everything you have learnt today.
