Burgundy first stole my heart in 1991 when I first worked in the region, I just didn’t realise it at the time. Now as a married mum of two, I know it is where I belong. We settled here as a family in 2006 after several years in the French Alps and I established Burgundy by Request in 2010 to share my love of the region and its wine with my guests.

Four years working in a prestigious wine boutique in Vougeot started my love affair with the wine but it just wasn’t enough. I wanted to be out there amongst the vines, watching the seasons change, meeting the ‘vignerons’, learning about different growing techniques, how the wine matured in the cellars, learning about this mysterious ‘terroir’ that everyone was talking about.

My practical wine studies include being a winetasting judge for the Guide Hachette and Feminalise and I thoroughly enjoyed working with the vignerons of Pommard as an instructor for their wine workshops and open days. Theoretical wine studies have also been an important part of my development, so back to school I went and I am now one of the few non-French holders of the respected ‘Diplome Universitaire, Vin, Culture et Oenotourisme’ from Burgundy University.

However there is nothing like getting out there every day and talking about wine with the people who make it happen.
